So Cal Free Net.org

Just moved to Golden Hill three weeks ago. I have a Tivo Series2 DVR, at my old place I used a USB ethernet adapter to get service updates and program guides. I don't have a phone line or cable internet at my new place and I don't plan to do so. I bring my laptop home on weekends to surf the web with the free wireless service. My question is that if I get a USB wireless adapter, will it be possible to connect to the free Internet serivce? It would be nice, but not mandatory. I have been using my Tivo manually, but it keeps nagging me to connect via phone or ethernet. Just wondering if it would be possible and what will it take. Thanks for the free service, even though the signal is mostly Low and the system sometimes lags, it suits me just fine since all I do is check e-mail, chat and general web surf.
